This week at school we were collecting for pennies for people who need fresh water in Africa. Our class collected over $80 worth of pennies! The whole school collected over $400 in pennies. THAT'S 400, 000 PENNIES! We also did some activities with pennies. We took a class picture and wrote "We Create Change" out of pennies, we did a penny hunt, we wore sunglasses with pennies, we wore pennies for how old we are and lots of other activities!
This week some of our classmates performed a readers theatre. They did the play "The Emperor's New Hair"!
"They used lots of expression!" - Duncan
"It about a bald emperor.. It was funny!" - Ben
In social studies we've been talking about how people get around in Nunavut! Today we made our own snowshoe! For the wooden base, we used paper and for the raw hide, we used string! They turned out awesome! They were difficult because we had to go through the holes and go from the front to the back without getting TANGLED and STUCK! "It was soooo hard!"
Today was also our classmates BIRTHDAY! She brought us cupcakes, juice and a solar powered flower! We were very polite and neat eaters - we ate the cupcake carefully without getting any icing on our face. Noooooot!!! (See the pictures below).. Eddie was wondering where his icing went when Ms. Moffatt reminded him it was all over his face!! Ohhh Eddie!
We had a great week!
Love,
Room 25
