Second last week of school...

We've been learning about 3-D shapes. This week we made 3-D shapes out of grapes and toothpicks.
"I made a cube with a triangular prism inside it"- Dylan
"I made two cubes and a rectangular prism to make a rocket ship!" - Bryce
"I made three cubes and a triangular prism" - Daren
We got to destroy our shapes and eat them!! Except for the kids who didn't like grapes!

Today we opened the "Moffatt Store" and we got to go shopping. REAL things with FAKE money!! There were things for 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents and 50 cents. We each got $1 to spend. You could buy mini frisbees, a star frisbee, fruit snacks, smarties, glow sticks, bouncy balls, pencils, skipping ropes, play-doh, glow in the dark bugs and much more...

"It was the best store I've ever went to!!" - Julia
"I got more than 10 things!" - Duncan
"I liked buying the stuff. I got smarties" - Alex

Next week we have a busy week. Monday we have a field trip to the Assiniboine park zoo (but we'll blog about that next week), Tuesday is our celebration of learning, Wednesday is our tabloid day (please no rain!) and then Thursday is our LAST DAY OF GRADE 2.

It's time for science so have a gooood weekend!!!

13 Days Left of School!

This week has been fun!

We made cars in science! We are using recycled materials to make our cars. We need to make a wheel (something that goes around) and an axel (stuck to the wheel to make the wheel move). In Julia's egg carton - she found.... ROTTEN EGG SHELLS! GROSS!

This week we had Clean-Air day on Wednesday! We had a walking school bus and a huge poster that the bus kids walked with. In the afternoon, we had a clean-air day community walk and we went all around where the running club goes. After our walk, we got WATERMELON! It was awesome!

This morning we were doing some TRICKY math questions. Can you solve this one?

500 - 200 - 100 + 50 - 0 + 50 + 13 = ? ? ?

Comment with your answer!!

Have a great weekend and enjoy the weather!

Goodbye May! Hellooo June!

Dear blog followers,

Sorry for not writing our blog in sooo long! We've been busy in our class working on our Arctic animal projects, our vests, our how-to books, lots of math and everything else!

We finally finished our Arctic animal projects! Our projects were a lot of work but they turned out GREAT, AMAZING, SUPER, FABULOUS, AWESOME AND SPECTACULAR.

We got to share our projects with the kindergartens and with Ms. Stewarts class!  They thought they were very good!

Here are some pictures of us working on our projects:

We had a VERY special guest in our classroom - JEANINE!! We made vests and she taught us all about the Metis people and Metis beadwork.

For our vests, we had to make a "thumbnail" picture of what we wanted our vests to look like. The vest tells a story about our friends and family.

For example, Julia had one flower that had a car in the middle because her brother Ben likes to play with cars! Brendon had a seed that bloomed into four different flowers for each of his family members.

Here are some pictures of us working on our vests and WEARING our vests:

Today is Raeann's last day. She is moving to Alberta!! We will miss her.

Enjoy the rainy weather!
