Goodbye May! Hellooo June!

Dear blog followers,

Sorry for not writing our blog in sooo long! We've been busy in our class working on our Arctic animal projects, our vests, our how-to books, lots of math and everything else!

We finally finished our Arctic animal projects! Our projects were a lot of work but they turned out GREAT, AMAZING, SUPER, FABULOUS, AWESOME AND SPECTACULAR.

We got to share our projects with the kindergartens and with Ms. Stewarts class!  They thought they were very good!

Here are some pictures of us working on our projects:

We had a VERY special guest in our classroom - JEANINE!! We made vests and she taught us all about the Metis people and Metis beadwork.

For our vests, we had to make a "thumbnail" picture of what we wanted our vests to look like. The vest tells a story about our friends and family.

For example, Julia had one flower that had a car in the middle because her brother Ben likes to play with cars! Brendon had a seed that bloomed into four different flowers for each of his family members.

Here are some pictures of us working on our vests and WEARING our vests:

Today is Raeann's last day. She is moving to Alberta!! We will miss her.

Enjoy the rainy weather!

AND NOW ONTO OUR BLOG FOR THE WEEK...

In social studies, we are working on our animal research projects! We had to pick an arctic animal from the board like the ptarmigan, the polar bear and many other animals. We got our information from the computers and books from the library. We are going to make a book or a poster with our information!

During Daily 5, we have been rehearsing a TOP SECRET play.. but we can't tell you more about it. It's really SPOOKY and FUNNY!

We did new math centres this week - there are lots of adding and subtracting ones and an estimating weight station. We have been working on estimating! Every morning we do our math jobs and then when we are done our math jobs we do our estimation jar. It's different every day. You can be either 5 over the actual number or 5 under the actual number to be correct!

We had a tornado drill today. We had to kneel on our knees in the hallway by our boots and put your head down so if theres any glass flying, it doesn't hit you in the head! We did such a good job that Ms. Moffatt gave us cookies! (Lucky kids)

Have a good mothers day!

Fantastic Week!

This week was fantastic! One day Keestin, Marisa and Ms. Moffatt were all wearing POLKA DOTS! It was a polka dot kind of day!

This week for math centres, we had 5 different centres.
There was white board math with Ms. Moffatt.

There was the smart board estimation centre with shapes.

There was dice subtraction

There was a game centre with adding and subtracting multiples of 10's.

There was a station where you sorted the sticks from biggest to smallest.

This week was the talent show! Julia played Lemonade Stand on the piano. Gaby and Marisa sang "The Climb". Keestin sang a song. Raeann sang "The Chipmunks Song". Brendon and Braedon told funny jokes.

This morning we had social studies. We looked at Flyers from Winnipeg and compared them to the prices in Nunavut. We noticed that prices are A LOT higher than ours. We think it's because they have to be shipped in by airplane!

Doritos in Nunavut are $7.50 and here they are $2.50.
Frozen pizza in Nunavut is $17.89 and here it is $4.99.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

ALSO - exciting news!! Julia's mom had a baby last night. She is now a big sister AGAIN! Her sisters name is Anna.

We had a great week. Enjoy your weekend and have a great week next week!
