Short Week!

Today we had jungle gym and we also had jungle gym yesterday too. We always have jungle gym at the of every month. We love jungle gym.

This week we had math centres. There were 5 different centres: a centre with Ms. Moffatt writing word problems, a centre with a war game with basic facts, a centre with grouping popsicle sticks, a centre with a worksheet and a smart board centre with money pages.

This week we performed at the music festival and we won a GOLD! We are also going to be in the newspaper! We're basically famous.

In art, we did warm and cool colours. The warm colours are red, orange and yellow. The cool colours blue, purple and green. We got to choose the colours and then choose the picture we wanted.

Next week, we have a new student starting. His name is Sean!

No School Tomorrow!! We get a loooong week! (Except for Ms. Moffatt - she still has to come to school!!)

Our BIG two weeks!

Sorry it's been so long since our last blog but we've been BUSY!

Last week we went to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra to see the Magical Jukebox performance. The "Ba-Na-Na-Naaaa" song was great and we also loved William Tell Overture song. There was a magician who put a girl in a box and then they closed it, put glass into it and then the girl was all mixed up! We also loved the juggler!

For our centres last week, we did Valentine's centres! There was a decorating cards centre, a word search, the smart board money centre, colour by number centre, valentine's bingo and the valentine's math game centre.

Last friday we celebrated our 100th day of school!! We made fruit loop patterns. Ms. Moffatt let us eat them or make a necklace out of them. We had to count out 100! We also made 100 day glasses and in the morning we used the letters ONE HUNDRED to make other words!!

Have a great week! Thanks for reading our blog!

Did you know...

We are studying Lunenburg. Did you know...
- the harbour never freezes in Lunenburg?
- a lobster has a catcher claw and a crusher claw?
- the ocean is an important part of Lunenburg so they can catch fish
- Luenburg is in Nova Scotia?

This week we finished up our money centres! There were 5 centres, there was...
- the smart board that had activities with money
- money patterns where you had to make a pattern with coins and see how much its worth
- a centre with Ms. Moffatt where we had to count coins and exchange coins
- money memory where you had to match up money amounts and the coins
- a money worksheet with adding coins

This morning we had recess games in the gym with Mr. McKenzie. We played soccer and it was fun. Afterwards, we went into the little gym with Ms. Moffatt and we played Pin Guard. If you get hit by the ball you have to do 5 wall jumps. The goal is to knock down all three of the other teams pins. During pin guard, everybody kept throwing the balls at Ms. Moffatt so she decided to go knock over all the pins! "Ohhhh Ms. Moffatt" - - (Ms. Moffatt says they started it!!)

Our Art and Our Choice Time

We had a really busy week in room 25! In art this week, we painted our hands with warm and cool colours. We painted the background with cool colours and we painted our hands with warm colours.
Check out our "COOL" art below:

We had indoor recess this week because it was too cold! We love indoor recess because we like  to play board games and other stuff. Room 25 loves board games! Check out the picture below:

Some of our classmates performed a play this week. The book was called "The Tale of the Turnip". It was about an old man and an old woman and a little boy and a little girl and a cat and a MOUSE who were all trying to pull out a huge turnip! They did GREAT! Everyone loved how they read with expression.

We also started a new unit in math. We have been learning about $MONEY!$ (ching-ching)!
We were counting coins and dollars. We also learned how to count by quarters. 25 50, 75, a dollar!

We have been writing riddles in our class. This week, we wrote our OWN riddles. Today we typed them out on the computers and we are going to make a book out of them and put them up on the bulletin board. We'll show you pictures later!!
