The Julia and Ms.Moffatt Blog

Today's blog is brought to you by Julia and Ms.Moffatt because the rest of the class is finishing social studies and having CHOICE TIME!

This morning we had two performances from our readers theatre performers. The first group performed Little Red Riding Hood. Julia thought they were good at following along and it was great!

The second group performed The Three Little Elephants which was based on The Three Little Pigs. It was a really funny play!

Monday was Lights Out Canada and Earth Day. We made mother earth promises and we painted our earth and then cut out our hands so it looked like we were holding the world!

Have a great weekend and enjoy the weather!!

It's the weekend!!

This week at school we were collecting for pennies for people who need fresh water in Africa. Our class collected over $80 worth of pennies! The whole school collected over $400 in pennies. THAT'S 400, 000 PENNIES! We also did some activities with pennies. We took a class picture and wrote "We Create Change" out of pennies, we did a penny hunt, we wore sunglasses with pennies, we wore pennies for how old we are and lots of other activities!

This week some of our classmates performed a readers theatre. They did the play "The Emperor's New Hair"!
"They used lots of expression!" - Duncan
"It about a bald emperor.. It was funny!" - Ben

In social studies we've been talking about how people get around in Nunavut! Today we made our own snowshoe! For the wooden base, we used paper and for the raw hide, we used string! They turned out awesome! They were difficult because we had to go through the holes and go from the front to the back without getting TANGLED and STUCK! "It was soooo hard!"

Today was also our classmates BIRTHDAY! She brought us cupcakes, juice and a solar powered flower! We were very polite and neat eaters - we ate the cupcake carefully without getting any icing on our face. Noooooot!!! (See the pictures below).. Eddie was wondering where his icing went when Ms. Moffatt reminded him it was all over his face!! Ohhh Eddie!

We had a great week!

We took a loooong spring break from our blog!!

Sorry it's been a long time and we haven't done our blog. Hope you had a Happy Easter and a super spring break!!

We have been BUSY in room 25!!

We are studying types of transportation in Nunavut right now. We've looked at snow shoes, snowmobile and canoes. Today we are looking at dog sleds!

In math we have been working on regrouping. REGROUPING IS HARD! But Ms. Moffatt is going to give us homework this weekend to help us practice!! (Room 25 students say "NOOO!") but Ms. Moffatt says "it's already photocopied and ready to go!!" Room 25 students say "NOOO!" hahaha.

In science, we are studying the lifecycle of frogs. We are making mini-books about our life as a frog! They are really cool!

Well, it's time for SOCIAL STUDIES!
